| Types of Research | | | Carrots, grown in our test beds, harvested for research | Our scientists' goal is to gain a detailed understanding of the underlying biochemical components, physiological activities, and population health applications of whole food supplements. Our scientists meet this goal by performing biological, clinical, and outcomes research.Biological Research Biological research is utilized to identify and quantify key chemical markers within whole food ingredients and analyze them throughout the manufacturing process. Using plants grown in experimental test plots at our farm, our scientists determine which plant varieties will survive and grow in our climate and then harvest to maximize nutrient content. Further experiments document the biological activity of individual ingredients and finished products in cell culture systems. The biological research that is performed in our research & development department assures us that the nutritional integrity and maximum synergistic capacity of the final product is maintained.
Clinical Research Clinical research is committed to support research on whole foods and whole food-derived dietary supplements. We are also dedicated to provide quality educational materials to help clinical practitioners document the effect of dietary supplements to their patients. To meet this challenge, clinical research has committed funding to support scientists investigating whole food nutritional research in an annual pilot clinical research program. Clinical research has also developed educational materials to help the clinician document the efficacy of Standard Process products.Outcomes Research Outcomes research encompasses population health research and scientific communication. Outcomes research synthesizes results from studies performed by external researchers that support the whole food philosophy. The documentation is intended to provide our customer clinicians with the tools they need to more effectively use nutrition and supplements in addressing patient health challenges.
Outcomes research supports the biological and clinical research by helping to identify objective health risk biomarkers that can be used to study health outcomes in response to supplements and/or diet. Scientific communication provides clinicians with the best available scientific evidence regarding nutrition and the health of their patients. |
